For a small, independent developer such as Egosoft the benefits of Steam cannot be overstated.
Steam provides us with a means to present our games to a much wider audience than would normally be possible, and also helps to minimise the support workload by distributing patches and ensuring that the vast majority of our players are playing the latest version at all times.
These are significant factors in our ability to maintain our continued existence as an independent developer.
