      Description

You landed on this page because we have detected a crash in "X4 - Foundations".

So far we have traces that this crash seems to be caused mainly by 3rd-party tools.

If you repetitively run into this crash and have one of the listed tools installed, try to disable (or even uninstall) the tool and see if this resolved the crash.

3rd-party tool version DLL DLL version Workaround/Fix
D3DGear < 5.0.2277 D3DGear64.dll 5.0.0.2270 Please make sure to run the latest version of that tool which should fix the crash (version >=5.0.2277).
      GamePP unknown GPP_VKLayer64.dll 1.3.0.1 unknown
Twitch Studio < 2020-08-26 TwitchNativeOverlay64.dll 0.0.0.0 Fixed with version >= 2020-08-26. Please make sure to start Twitch at least once, so that the auto updater will run and replace an old version.
XSplit Gamecenter unknown XSplitGameSource64.dll 1.1.2003.2501 disable the ingame HUD and use screen capture instead

For the cases which were confirmed, we reached out to the developers of these tools to figure out a permanent fix for the issue.

We'll update this issue here, once new details become available.

      Requesting further support

If you don't have one of the listed tools installed or if you have the tool installed but running with a version which is reported to include the fix and still end up on this page, please send a mail to crash@egosoft.com with the subject set to: "X4-444 - 569986" and attach the crashdump to that mail as described on this page under "Locating local crash reports".

Note on the fixed/affected version numbers and the issue history

Since the crash is caused by a 3rd-party tool outside the game, it can trigger with any version of the game (therefore the affected version was set to 1.0 and the fixed version was left out).
The crash came to our attention around the 3.10 release and was apparently reported to happen already with 1.0 (though the reports just started around the time 3.10 was released).
The issue was reported to the support of XSplit Gamecenter, Twitch Studio, and D3DGear on 2020-05-04.
Received confirmation from XSplit Gamecenter developers that they are looking into a fix for this issue (2020-05-04).
Received confirmation from D3DGear developers that they are looking into the crash on 2020-05-04.
A fix for the issue with D3DGear was released on 2020-05-06 (version 5.0.2277).
Intermediate workaround through Windows environment variable was provided by Twitch Studio devs on 2020-07-22.
The issue was reported to the support of GamePP on 2020-07-24.
Fix for Twitch Studio was made available on 2020-08-26.
