      Description

You landed on this page because the game detected an error to start the game.

The issue seems to be caused by a 3rd-party DLL (RTSSVkLayer64.dll) which apparently is part of the application: "RivaTuner" developed by Alexey Nicolaychuk.

      running MSI Aftermath < 4.6.3 Beta 4

We received one user report that the issue occurred with MSI Aftermath 4.6.2 (which bundles RivaTuner) but was fixed after upgrading MSI Aftermath to 4.6.3 Beta 4. We therefore think that the issue has been fixed in a later RivaTuner version already.
If you are using MSI Aftermath, please make sure to try to upgrade to 4.6.3 Beta 4 (or later).

      Further support

If you don't have RivaTuner installed on your machine, have it installed through MSI Aftermath but are running a version later than 4.6.3 Beta 4, or if you have it installed by other measn than through the bundled MSI Aftermath application and end up on this page, please send a mail to prioritysupport@egosoft.com with the subject set to: "X4-538 - RivaTuner startup issue" for further troubleshooting.
In the mail, please include the latest crashdump (see this page on how to locate the crashdump) and mention which version of RivaTuner you are using (in case you have it installed).

Note on the fixed/affected version numbers

Since the crash is caused by a 3rd-party tool outside the game, it can trigger with any version of the game (therefore the affected version was set to 1.0).
We became aware of this issue on 2021-01-05 with our data showing that it occurred to users at least since 2020-10-20.
With the affected user we determined that the issue has likely been fixed with an update to MSI Aftermath 4.6.3 Beta 4 on 2021-01-09.
