        From the game designer: The idea to auto deploy satellites was rejected. If you think it should be reconsidered and want to strengthen your point, I suggest you do so in the forums as pointed out above.

        As suggested in the initial comment, ships indeed use travel mode since release. Since the behavior is however still a bit weird, we did a couple of further improvements on that side which you can expect to be released as part of 3.00 (Beta 1).

        With regards to the suggestion of having ships auto dispatch satellites: I've passed that suggestion on to the corresponding person but can't promise any update on the decision there being announced here.

        Ships need to be able to auto-explore a system. Explore is useless right now, the ships don't really fly around and reveal gray space.

        The explorer script is just (intentionally ??) designed in a way that makes it pracitcally useless. And they DO use travel mode but not in the way that would make sense (following a pattern to explore the sector in high speed for instance).
        They stop at location do a painfully slow (and i mean SLOW) survey of one layer of hexes beyond their radar range and ages later they decide to move a bit further with travel mode and repeat the process. Given the size of the sectors, this mechanic is plain retarded. You are better off ordering them with normal fly to waypoints around the sectors.
