Missiles are used as munitions by ships and often traded by Equipment Docks and Military Outposts or their Terran equivalents.   The types of missiles able to be used are dependent on ship type.   Missiles require Energy Cells, Ore and Food wares to be produced.

The long range and high damage of some missiles allow ships to be able kill enemy ships that outclass them or engage outnumbering fleets.   As missiles are consumed on launch, heavy use by player owned ships can become quite expensive.   Late game players often have several complexes dedicated to missile production to keep their fleets supplied.
