Reunion! The following section contains information relating to content from the Cradle of Humanity DLC
Short Name: TER, USC (formerly), ATF (formerly)
Moniker(s): The Protectorate, Terran Scum (by a disgruntled Antigone Republic miner)
The Terrans of the Solar System have a long history of spaceflight and exploring the Jump Gate network. After the events of the Terraformers over Earth, the Terrans severed their contact with the rest of the galaxy and had several centuries of rebuilding and advancement in isolation. Their brief return led to the Terran Conflict which preceded the mass disconnection of Jump Gates. It is unknown if the war precipitated this event.
The Terran Protectorate is the successor to the United Space Command (USC) and the AGI Task Force (ATF), and is tasked by the Terran High Command with safeguarding Sol and eliminating the Xenon menace. The restructuring of these responsibilities came about following the USC's failure to prevent the destruction of the Torus Aeternal by foreign saboteurs; an incident which scarred the Terran population and threw the government's ability to protect Sol into question.
During the Jump Gate shutdown, the Terran government seized the opportunity to reassure their citizens. Separated from the network, their economy thrived and the Terran Protectorate fortified their presence in Sol. Critics of the Terran government have claimed that establishing the Protectorate was merely an attempt to re-brand the USC, and that the underlying structural problems remained. However, there is no disputing that the Terran Protectorate does now operate differently from its predecessors. Not only is the Protectorate extremely zealous in its defence of the inner core of Sol, to the point where not even all Terran citizens are allowed to approach Earth, but they are also heavily involved in Sol's external relations. Frustrated with how the Commonwealth has, in their eyes, mishandled the Xenon, they have taken a much more proactive approach to engaging the Xenon across the network. Fleets are regularly sent out to ensure that Xenon pockets are eradicated, without regard for the sovereignty of the space in question. Nor do they shy away from actively trying to meddle in other governments' affairs in order to influence their stance on AGI technology. Their preoccupation with destroying the Xenon at all costs frequently puts them at odds with the Community of Planets.
"Long may the Sun shine" - Commander Nowak Lee of the Intervention Corps
The Terran Intervention Corps while not a distinct faction from the Terran Protectorate behaves differently to other Terran assets. Whenever the Terran Protectorate has the resources available or ships capable of being retasked they will field Intervention Corps ships which target Xenon systems exclusively, flying from Sol to a far-off Xenon sector across other faction's space. The Intervention Corps at any given time is limited to one Asgard class battleship, one Tokyo class carrier as well as their subordinates and several Falx class frigates. The Intervention Corp's extended range of operations far from friendly space can often make them targets for opportunistic players.

Understandably the Terran protectorate control the Solar System which is the largest system in the game.
The Terran Protectorate since the Jumpgate shutdown has attempted to unify the vastly different design philosophies of its preceding USC and ATF organisations. The result is an array of slow, heavily shielded and heavy hitting ship classes (as a general rule, there are notable exceptions to this rule). The Terran Protectorate is the only non-xenon faction currently capable of fielding a battleship and maintains a fleet of former ATF Asgard class battleships from the later days of the Terran Conflict.
