As well as the main plots, there are many types of random mission in X3:Terran Conflict, covering the Trade, Fight, Build and Think themes.
Plot Missions
Indicated by a blue book symbol. These missions relate to one of the main plots (spoilers).
Trade Missions
Indicated by a yellow credit symbol.
- Deliver cargo
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for delivering a specified number of a given ware (which you must provide) to the mission station, within a timelimit. There are three variants of this mission, depending on the type of station:
- Factory - deliver a resource.
- Pirate base - deliver a ware the base trades with. Note that the ware may well be illegal!
- Trading station - deliver a ware the dock trades with. In this case it is also possible the ware will be illegal.
- Transport cargo
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for transporting a cargo to the mission station from another station in a nearby sector, within a timelimit.
- Passenger transport
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for transporting a group of passengers from the mission station to another station in a nearby sector, within a timelimit.
- Buy used ship
Receive a second-hand ship in exchange for credits.
Fight Missions
Indicated by a red crosshair symbol.
- Assassination
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for killing a named NPC (by blowing up his ship), within a timelimit.
- Xenon Invasion
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for clearing a sector of waves of Xenon ships while defending a specified station.
- Escort convoy
Receive credits and race reputation for defending a convoy from waves of enemy ships while they travel to a station in a nearby sector.
- Destroy convoy
Receive credits and race reputation for destroying a convoy in a nearby sector.
- Patrol
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for clearing an area of waves of enemy ships. There are two variants of this mission:
- Single sector patrol.
- Multi-sector patrol.
- Defend station
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for protecting the mission station against waves of enemy ships.
Build Missions
Indicated by a green bricks symbol.
- Build station
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for building a specified station (which you must provide) at a given location, within a timelimit.
Think Missions
Indicated by a white lightbulb symbol.
- Transport passenger
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for transporting a passenger from the mission station to another station in a nearby sector, within a timelimit.
- Return ship
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for returning a ship from a nearby sector to the mission station, within a timelimit. There are two variants of this mission:
- Return an abandoned ship.
- Return a stolen ship. In this case the ship is moving, and you need to make the thief leave the ship before you can claim it.
- Follow ship
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for spying on a ship (following it at a distance through several sectors until it reaches its destination).
- Deliver ship
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for delivering a specified ship (which you must provide) to the mission station, within a timelimit.
- Scan freight
Receive credits in exchange for scanning ships in one or more sectors, within a timelimit. This can be a search for illegal goods or for valuable goods, depending on the race offering the mission.
- Scan asteroids
Receive credits and race reputation in exchange for scanning a specified set of asteroids in one or more sectors, within a timelimit.
- Buy asteroid data
Receive asteroid position and yield data for a sector in exchange for credits.
- Buy sector data.
Recieve station and gate information for one or more nearby sectors in exchange for credits.
- Buy notoriety hack
In exchange for credits you can fix your relations with a hostile station.
- Buy blueprints
Receive blueprints for a ship (allowing you to build that type of ship at your HQ) in exchange for credits.
