This week we have several new things for you. Our 1.25 update introduces a couple of important new features. We also have a video explaining some of the things we've added recently to X Rebirth and a news update telling you more about our plans for the next few months.
The time has come: after seven long years of development, X Rebirth is finally available.
X Rebirth marks a new beginning in the history of the X Series and draws fans new and old into an unbelievely large, living and richly detailed universe, just waiting to be explored.
Once again, underpinning X Rebirth are the four long-standing and familiar cornerstones of the X Series.
TRADE! A fully simulated economy in which every action has consequences. Every ship you see has a task. Stop a freighter from reaching its destination and its cargo will be stopped too, causing prices to rise.
FIGHT! From small scale skirmishes to epic fleet encounters, battles in the X Universe know no limits. Choose to fight for the military, work for the police or be a lawless pirate, or if you prefer just fight when you need to defend yourself - it's up to you!
BUILD! Create your own empire! From trading stations to large factories, farms to high-tech military complexes, everything can belong to you.
THINK! A rich, detailed history and a deep complex plot await you, but you are free to decide when and where to take part.
Action-packed space battles, a realistic trading system and many opportunities for exciting discovereies as you travel the universe, mean you can enjoy a unique space opera with countless hours of gameplay.
This release is the start of a whole new journey, and we hope that you will join us in populating and shaping the universe over the years to come. We have a long history of working with our player community, through rough and smooth, and doing our best to turn their hopes and ideas into reality. We hope that you will share your views and feedback with us and help us to improve and expand the new X Universe as we add new features as well as solving any problems you may run into.
In the next few weeks we will also be reopening our DevNet Ideas forums, where you will be able to show us your ideas for the future.
But enough talk. To your cockpit, and may your deeds restore the "Albion Skunk" to its former glory as the "Pride of Albion"!
We hope you enjoy X Rebirth!

Trade and resource extraction in X Rebirth presented in a new video(151 Comments)
All X games have been created to provide players an open sandbox experience with multiple levels of gameplay elements. Among the most significant is a fully simulated and realistic economy. X Rebirth takes advantage of the wealth of experience derived from the prior X games to create a trading experience that is completely immersive. Today we are pleased to present a trade video that delves into some of the trading, building and resource management aspects players can expect from the X Rebirth economy.
Like any economy, supply, demand and animal spirits are the main drivers. In the trade world of X Rebirth, countless variables impact each of these factors. Prices and the economy can and will be influenced by pirates, warring factions disrupting supply routes, broken station power units, shot-down freighters, good relations with merchants, and the list goes on ... For example, if a player directs his aggression at a freighter, he can be sure that his action will make prices rise or delay production elsewhere ...
Upon first entering the X Rebirth universe, players will find the scale of their trading operations limited by their cargo hold. However, from the start the player will have a very impressive and easy to use personalized trade system. In time, and if the player chooses to take the path of building a major trading presence, the player’s trading activities will reflect the fleet of freighters acquired and the stations and factories built. Even those players who prefer to immerse themselves primarily in action-laden space battles will find that their actions influence the economy.
It bears noting that utilizing the streamlined trade management system allows the player to direct freighters to collect or sell goods. The ships will then perform their missions autonomously, while the player can attend to other tasks such as finding new resources.
Finding new resources is among the more important elements in a player’s economic gameplay and this is also explored in today video. Mining is facilitated by special drones which are designed to analyze and exploit asteroids.
The year is 2013 A.D. The DevNet and Egosoft developers are now entirely working towards the release of X Rebirth. Well, not entirely... One small group of dedicated DevNet volunteers are spending their spare time to improve X3AP. And life is not easy for the few remaining bugs.
In X3AP 3.1 several problems with the Shady Business and Corporation Troubles Plots from Update 3.0 have now been fixed. Also thanks to our DevNet translators the complete French and Chinese translations of the Update 3.0 texts as well the Spanish translation of the Shady Business Plot texts can be provided with this update. A big thank you goes to the translators of the x3tc.ru community, who provided the missing Russian texts.
As usual the Steam client will automatically update your game to the latest version, provided it has not been configured to prevent this.
